All Applicants

Complete the application for admissions including the personal statement. An application fee of $24 is nonrefundable and is paid online by credit card or you can submit the payment in the form of a money order to Enrollment Services. If you choose to submit your application fee via money order be sure to put your name and the last four digits of your Social Security number on the face of the money order. This will ensure that the payment is appropriately applied to your account. If you are interested in receiving financial aid, please complete the FAFSA at and indicate Cheyney University as your school of choice. Our school code is 003317. To receive the highest priority consideration for financial aid students must complete the FAFSA form by February 15th .

Freshman Applicant Instructions

Students in high school or those students who have graduated high school but have not enrolled in any postsecondary institution(s) are considered freshman applicants. High School students, who are taking or have taken college courses while in high school, are considered freshman applicants and should indicate this when asked on the application.

  1. Request an official high school transcript from your guidance counselor, which lists your senior year courses. If you are a homeschooled applicant submit an official transcript issued by the Pennsylvania Homeschoolers Accreditation Agency (PHAA) or official documentation that your current curriculum has been approved by your state’s Board of Education.

  2. It is the applicant's responsibility to send  Enrollment Services their official SAT or ACT test results. Cheyney University's school code for reporting SAT/ACT test scores is 2648. Test scores imprinted on the applicants official high school transcript are also acceptable. ACT scores imprinted on an official high school transcript must include all sub scores, along with a composite score. If you are twenty-five years of age are older or if you have received your high school diploma two years prior to your application date, SAT or ACT test scores are not required.

  3. Students who received a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) must forward their official score report, and their SAT or ACT test results to the Enrollment Services office. If you received a GED and you are at least twenty-five years old or if you received your GED two years prior to submitting your application, SAT/ACT test scores are not required.

  4. If you are a permanent resident, you are required to submit a copy of your Permanent Resident card.

Transfer Applicant Instructions

Students, who have been enrolled in any other college and or university after graduating from high school, are considered transfer applicants.

  1. Submit to the Office of Enrollment Services an official transcript from each postsecondary institution attended.

  2. If you have fewer than 12 credit hours and you are under the age of twenty-five, please submit your final official high school transcript along with your SAT/ACT test scores.

  3. If you are a permanent resident, you are required to submit a copy of your Permanent Resident card.

International applicants who have not enrolled in any postsecondary institution since graduating high school should apply as a freshman international applicant. Applicants who have been enrolled in any postsecondary institution(s) after graduating from high school should apply as transfer international applicants.

  1. Submit official, English-translated copies of all secondary course work completed.

  2. All non-native speakers of English must submit an official score report from TOEFL. The TOEFL institution code for Cheyney University is 2648.

  3. Applicants who have taken the SAT or ACT must arrange for official scores to be sent to the Office of Admissions.

Special Notes

Though international students are not eligible for US government financial aid programs and cannot file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), some freshman merit scholarships offered by Cheyney University of Pennsylvania do not require FAFSA submission. In order to be considered for non-FAFSA based merit scholarships students should apply for admission early in the fall of their senior year.

International Transfer Applicants

  1. Submit an official credential evaluation. The evaluation must be a "course-by-course". The equivalency summary should be sent directly to Enrollment Services by the credential evaluation service.

  2. Students who have completed at least 12 academic credits at a U.S. college or university only need to provide a credential evaluation for foreign credentials. If postsecondary education was pursued outside of the U.S., it is not necessary to provide credential evaluation for high school level study if at least 12 credits have been completed at an accredited U.S.  institution of higher education .

  3. All non-native speakers of English must submit an official score report from TOEFL. The TOEFL institution code for Cheyney University is 2648. Applicants who have completed over 12 college-level credits in the United States are not required to submit an English proficiency score report.

  4. Applicants who have taken the SAT or ACT must arrange for official scores to be sent to Enrollment Services.

  5. Applicants who have college credits from US institutions must arrange for all official transcripts to be sent to the Enrollment Services.
